In September of 2006, Mike Mahany was rendered a C-3 quadriplegic and was told that he was permanently paralyzed (almost completely) from the neck down.  With the help of his dedicated friends and family, and the commitment and expertise of the medical community, Mike began a long, exhausting, and expensive road to regaining strength and improving the quality of his life.

In the years since his life-changing event, Mike has used his personal experience and the relationships he has fostered to develop an adaptive exercise program with a personal trainer.  His results have been significant.  He can move his upper body, engage in weight-training, and he is able to stand and take steps.  He credits his personal achievements to an intense personal training regimen.

Mike and his personal trainer, Michael J. Jackson, have put together an adaptive exercise program that they believe can be tailored to the individual needs of spinal injury patients who meet specific program criteria, including proper medical clearance for the intense workouts.  The pilot program is being hosted in Savannah by the Habersham YMCA.

To provide financial support or to find out other ways to help the program at the Habersham YMCA, please call 912-354-6223.

To volunteer as an assistant at the gym or to provide transportation services to and from the facility, please call 912-897-4625.

The Law Offices of Josh Sacks, PC is not in any way affiliated with nor does the firm provide any representation for the Habersham YMCA, the referenced program, or any other YMCA.  The firm represented Mr. Mahany for the underlying incident that led to his paralysis, and supports his efforts to provide opportunities to others with spinal cord injuries.
